Behavior
A coastal fish. Juveniles shoal, adults tend to be solitary. Enters coastal waters and estuaries in summer, retreating to deeper water in winter. A nocturnal hunter.
Features
Up to about 1 m long, around 12 kg.
Distribution
Found in the northeast Atlantic from Norway to Morocco, the Canary Islands, and Senegal. In Germany found in the North Sea.
