Behavior
A bottom-dwelling ray over sand or mud substrate. Often buries itself to ambush prey. Feeds on crustaceans, molluscs, and small fish.
Features
The most common ray in European waters. Large, flat body disc, with thorns on the back and tail.
Distribution
Found in the northeast Atlantic from Norway to Namibia. In Germany found in the North Sea, Skagerrak, and Kattegat.
