A pelagic shoaling fish. Found over sandy coastal substrate in summer, retreating to deeper offshore waters (up to 500 m) in winter.
Features
Elongated, spindle-shaped body.
Distribution
Found in the northeast Atlantic from Norway to South Africa, and the southwest Indian Ocean. In Germany found in the North Sea.
