Behavior
A shoaling fish. A top predator that undertakes extensive migrations.
Features
Very large, up to about 4 m and over 600 kg. Can live up to 40 years.
Distribution
Found in the Atlantic (north of the equator), the Mediterranean, the Caribbean, and the Gulf of Mexico. Rare in the German North Sea; a threatened migratory visitor in the Baltic.
