A pelagic shoaling fish feeding on plankton. Migrates to shallower, more northern waters in summer.
Features
Small, a member of the herring family. Up to about 20 cm long. Commercially sold as "anchovy".
Distribution
Found in the northeast Atlantic from Scotland to Angola. In Germany found in the North Sea.
