Behavior
A bottom-dwelling flatfish, usually solitary. Lives over sand or mud, burying itself by day. Migrates to deeper water in winter.
Features
Oval, flat body. A relatively southern species. Weighs up to about 2 kg.
Distribution
Found in the northeast Atlantic from Norway to West Africa. In Germany found in the North Sea and western Baltic, mainly along the Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian coasts.
