Behavior
Lives in clear, cool, moderately to fast-flowing small streams with gravel substrate, mainly in shallow reaches.
Features
Up to 10 cm long. Native to the Rhine and Meuse systems. In Germany recorded along the Rhine up to near Mannheim, including tributaries of the Main and Neckar. Not demanding of water temperature, but adapted to cool, temperate conditions.
