Behavior
A bottom-dwelling fish that hides among stones, roots, or bank burrows by day. Active at night, feeding on aquatic invertebrates and small fish.
Features
Up to 60 cm long, a Danube-endemic perch-family fish. First dorsal fin with 12-15 hard spines.
Distribution
Found only in the Danube, Prut, and Dniester basins. In Germany only in the Bavarian Danube system, and very rare.
