Behavior
Prefers still water, living in large rivers, oxbow lakes, reservoirs, and brackish coastal waters. Active at dawn and dusk, feeding on small fish and invertebrates.
Features
Similar to the pikeperch but smaller. Likes to hide under steep riverbanks.
Distribution
Naturally found in the Danube basin (up to Vienna), the Volga, and the Ural rivers. In Germany, non-native populations exist in Lower Saxony, Hamburg, Saxony-Anhalt, and North Rhine-Westphalia.
