Lives in bottom and mid-water layers of lakes, ponds, and slow-flowing river stretches. Feeds on plankton and bottom-dwelling invertebrates.
Features
Laterally compressed, silvery-white, similar to the common bream but smaller. Large scales with a distinct lateral line.
Distribution
Found across most of Europe and neighbouring western Asia. Widespread in Germany in still-water areas of lakes and rivers.
