Behavior
Either anadromous or freshwater-resident. Adults are semi-parasitic; larvae filter-feed in rivers.
Features
Medium-sized (30-50 cm), greenish-brown back, golden flanks, silvery belly; critically endangered in some waters.
Distribution
Widely distributed from Norway to Spain. In Germany found along the North Sea and Baltic coasts and in the Rhine basin.
